The bamboo ‘Give it a Rest’ spoon is the ultimate answer to the question of where to put it. This bamboo oval-shaped spoon has a small patented bump (a unique characteristic of how bamboo grows) on its back that keeps the business end from touching the surface when set on counters and stoves. Each spoon is made from a single piece of USDA certified organic bamboo, hand-burnished to a naturally-smooth finish. The ‘Give it a Rest’ spoon is a combination of a spoon rest and a kitchen spoon. This patented design elevates the spoon head off the counter, leaving your surfaces splotch-free.

Measures 12 inches

No spoon rest? No problem! There’s the ingenious bambu® Give it a Rest Spoon, made from a single piece of certified organic bamboo and seasoned with linseed oil. Plus, it has no adhesives or lacquers to be found! The clever bump on the back keeps the business end of the spoon elevated above the stove or countertop when you set it down. Voilá! No more saucy puddles on your kitchen surfaces.

Are bamboo utensils sanitary?

Utensils made by the bambu brand have the built-in antibacterial properties of bamboo, which help prevent microbial growth. But they’re still wood, which absorbs liquids and oils from cooking and may harbor bacteria if not properly cleaned. Wash your Give it a Rest Spoon with mild dishwashing liquid and warm water after you use it.

How to care for your bamboo utensils

Rinse or wash your bamboo spoon right after you use it so food doesn’t stick — if it does, scrape it off with your fingernail or a dish scraper. Wash the utensil in warm water with mild dish soap, and pat it dry. Stand it up in the dish drainer to fully air dry it before you put it away.

  • Don’t let your bamboo utensils soak in water (or sit in the soup) for an extended period.
  • Wash by hand, even though bambu’s utensils are dishwasher safe — they’ll last a lot longer!
  • If your bamboo looks or feels dry, rehydrate it with this natural Wood & Bamboo Conditioner and Protectant.

Do bamboo utensils splinter?

If you care for your bamboo properly, it won’t splinter. Hot water, harsh chemical detergents, and long exposure to water are the most common causes of splitting in bamboo. If your bamboo utensil becomes “fuzzy” or rough over time, take to it with some fine-grit sandpaper.
