At 21- 23 pounds, these crib mattresses strike a balance between being lightweight and sturdy, making it easier for parents to handle when changing sheets but still substantial enough to offer essential support. CERTIFIED ORGANIC WOOL
The benefits of wool’s complex, natural physicochemical structure are endless: it wicks away moisture, keeps your mattress smelling fresh, and acts as another all-natural fire barrier. It’s breathable — both warm and cool when you need it. Its natural crimp gives it bounce, body, and soft support characteristics. It’s also non-allergenic (ideal for those with allergies to feather and down or synthetic bedding products) and a renewable resource. We add no additives or synthetics to the wool. We add a layer of pure, naturally crimped GOTS-certified organic wool surrounding the crib mattress. We do not blend rayon, polyester, or flame retarding chemicals with our wool. Our organic wool has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI), which requires annual lab testing to ensure no harmful substances are present as a result of processing, including banned substances, toxic chemicals, pesticides, and dyes.

Crib Mattress Setup & Care:

Before You Begin:
This crib mattress fits standard-size cribs and requires firm base support. The dual-sided version features a firm infant side and a gently contouring toddler side. A single-sided option is also available. Both sides are independently tested and meet U.S. safety standard 16 CFR 1241 (incorporating ASTM F2933) for infant firmness, so either side is safe if used accidentally.

Safety Information:

  • Use only a fitted bottom sheet specifically designed for crib use, along with a mattress pad and/or waterproof pad.
  • Do not place stuffed animals, pillows, quilts, or comforters in the crib while your baby is sleeping, as these items can obstruct airflow around the baby's face.
  • Use only in a fully enclosed crib to help maintain a safe, secure sleep environment.
  • The mattress does not use waterproof coatings. If waterproof protection is needed, pair with Avocado's Organic Crib Waterproof Protector.

Care:
Spot clean only. Use a properly fitted crib sheet and waterproof protector rather than treating the mattress surface directly.
