In the amounts generally found in fluoridated toothpastes, fluoride is safe and effective for preventing tooth decay in people six years and older, according to The American Dental Association. Children under the age of six shouldn’t use fluoride toothpaste — and it’s important to supervise six-year-olds until you’re certain they can brush without swallowing the toothpaste.

While non-fluoride toothpaste helps remove plaque that causes gum disease and tooth decay, fluoride in toothpaste effectively prevents cavities than non-fluoride varieties.

How to start:

1. Check each piece of packaging for the recycling symbol and confirm your local recycling service accepts this type of packaging - visit BeRecycled.org to easily find this information. If your package cannot be recycled curbside, utilize this take back program!

2. Collect your empties - no need to even rinse them out - and put them in an eco-friendly envelope, box or other container. Reuse packaging you already have for mailing.
