This plate is ethically made and designed in collaboration with artisans from the Province of Tarlac in the Philippines, verified by the Fair Trade Federation. Each piece is meticulously hand carved, giving each plate a distinct design, richness and personal touch.
It is made from sustainably sourced Acacia wood from the forests of Pangasinan, prized for its durability, beautiful blend of warm colors and uniqueness. Acacia trees grow quickly and thrive in a variety of soil types, ensuring a steady and sustainable supply of timber, making it more available than other hardwoods. Acacia plantations often serve as carbon sinks, absorbing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while the trees themselves require little to no fertilizer and rarely need pesticides, reducing their environmental impact.
By purchasing this plate, you are supporting local artisans in the Philippines, particularly in rural areas, providing them with livelihood and fair wages while honoring their dignity as skilled craftspeople and preserving traditional crafts, techniques and knowledge.
