This is: 6 of our game-changing, customer favorite, all-purpose cleaning sponge made from plant and recycled materials. What it’s made from: The scrubber side is made from durable walnut shells and recycled plastic fibers. The sponge side is made from 100% plant-based cellulose. Why you’ll feel good about it: Most sponges are made of plastic and full of dyes and chemicals. Our ingredients are more responsible: walnut shells (which would otherwise be thrown away), cellulose (from plants), and recycled PET (a form of plastic) to hold it all together. No dyes. No solvents. Just pure sudsy sponge. And by the way: Non-scratch. Safe for use on fine cookware. Not suitable for those with nut allergies. We knew early on that the soft spongy side would be made entirely from plant-based cellulose, but along the way we noticed if we made the sponge a bit thicker than average the sudsing action went way up. We also made the obvious choice not to add dyes or chemical solvents (maybe that’s why customers report our sponges don’t stink?). From there we tested natural fibers for the scouring pad. Walnut shells stood out right away. They were really effective at scrubbing and gentle enough for pots, pans, and china. And they had great durability, helping the sponge keep its shape and its scrubbing abilities through many, many washes. A non-toxic adhesive literally brought the two halves together. Our Walnut Scrubber Sponge was born in 2015 and continues to be one of our most celebrated innovations.

Made from ground walnut shells, recycled PET fibers, plant-based cellulose, and non-toxic adhesive.

Rinse before and after use. To sterilize, wash on top rack of dishwasher, or wet sponge entirely and microwave on high for one minute.
