This project supports the protection of 20 million acres of intact forest in the Brazilian Amazon, the world’s largest and most important tropical rainforest. Originally spanning 1.7 billion acres - nearly the size of the continental U.S - it is a refuge for a third of Earth’s terrestrial species, including jaguars, harpy eagles, and pink river dolphins. It also is the ancestral territory and current home to many of the world’s Indigenous Peoples. The Brazilian Amazon is a massive carbon sink, but is at risk. Approximately 18% of the Amazon has been deforested. The Rainforest Trust’s goal in the Brazilian Amazon is to permanently safeguard 20 million acres of intact forest as new protected areas and Indigenous territories.

In the event that your selected project becomes unavailable your contribution will be earmarked towards a substantially similar alternative with equivalent environmental impact offered by the same project partner that you selected.

A portion of each purchase is dedicated to the maintenance of this program, and our commitment to offer high-impact, high-quality impact projects to the Grove community.
