Here's how you do it: add 1/4 cup Borax, 1/4 washing soda, and 1/2 cup laundry detergent to a bathtub filled 1/4 way with hot water. Toss your stinky towels in and agitate them with a stirring stick until they're fully saturated. Let 'em soak until the water cools down, then wash them as usual. Vinegar can clean, deodorize, whiten, brighten, and even soften your clothes and towels — without any added chemicals. These are all great reasons to add vinegar to your washing machine. If you've got mildewy towels, tossing 1/4 to 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the final rinse cycle of your washing machine might be the ticket to stench-free towels.
