    FAQs

How can I make my dog more eco-friendly?

There are a ton of ways to make your pup more eco-friendly, and one of the easiest things you can do is change the way you deal with your dog's poop. We know it's not the most glamorous tip, but it can really make a difference!

Instead of using regular plastic bags to pick up dog poop, grab a pack of compostable dog waste bags. Unlike plastic bags, which never fully degrade, compostable pet waste bags eventually break down in the landfill, which could help curb the plastic pollution crisis we're currently facing.

Another easy way to curb Fluffy's carbon pawprint is to support environmentally conscious brands. Look for companies that have plastic-free packaging, toys made from recycled plastic, and ones that use sustainably sourced ingredients in their dog foods and treats.

Can you give dogs treats everyday?

Absolutely! Your good boy (or girl) deserves to be rewarded. According to the American Kennel Club, doling out treats everyday is fine as long as they don't make up more than 10% of your dog's daily diet.

How do you figure that out? Good question. Take your dog's recommended calorie allotment — this will depend on the breed and age of your dog. If your dog is supposed to eat 1,500 calories a day, 10% of that is 150 calories you can allot to treats. Check out our list of the best dog treats for your sweet angel or take a gander at a few low-calorie fruits 'n' veggies that are safe for your pupper to eat:

    • Apples
    • Bananas
    • Blueberries
    • Cantaloupe
    • Carrots
    • Celery
    • Mango
    • Oranges
    • Peaches
    • Pears
    • Pineapple

How can I be an eco-friendly pet owner?

The biggest part of being an eco-friendly pet owner is choosing eco-friendly pet products. Peruse your dog's possessions and take stock of where you could swap the unsustainable for the sustainable. Do you have a big ol' bottle of conventional dog shampoo in your closet? Check out plant-based pet shampoos for a simple switch. You can also swap chemical flea sprays for natural flea and tick shampoos to keep the pests at bay.

Are you a fan of both dogs and cats? Don't feel left out! We've got some tips for cat lovers, too. Take a look at a few eco-friendly cat products to help you make your kitty an upstanding steward of Mother Earth, too.
